Lamar Odom is doing very well in his recovery from an apparent drug overdose last year. Khloe Kardashian says Odom is on his road to recovery as she continues to root for estranged husband, sharing that the former NBA star is “doing amazing” in recent weeks, according to Radar Online.
In a public appearance touting her upcoming talk show on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association winter meeting, Kardashian gave few details about Odom’s condition, saying it was his story to tell. Khloe had filed for divorce from Lamar, but she halted those proceedings after he was found unconscious last October, from an apparent overdose of cocaine and other drugs.
The reality star declined to go into details about the former NBA star or the Nevada brothel incident. Instead, she kept the focus on his recovery. “He’s doing amazing, and I’m so proud of the strength that he has had to fight that battle,” she said.
Lamar Odom, 36, is reportedly still recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after collapsing at the Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nev., in mid-October. Reports about his progress have been mixed, with the latest noting he has trouble walking on his own and struggles with memory loss.
He has two children with his ex-wife Liza Morales. He has a daughter and son. He is still married to Khloe Kardashian, although they live separately. The plan is for him to move from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles to a live-in rehabilitation center.
The former Los Angeles Lakers star looked well in the first photo posted of him since his injury. His son posted a photo on New Year’s Eve of himself with his dad and his sister, Destiny. “Christmas with my pops,” the teen wrote. “Here’s to 2016. Blessed.”
Kardashian was promoting her upcoming show, “Kocktails With Khloe,” on the FYI channel on Jan. 20. As for her family’s role in the forthcoming FX series, The People v. O.J. Simpson, Kardashian kept it positive.
“I’d definitely like to see it,” she said, telling the room how her mother is more invested having worked with David Schwimmer (who plays Robert Kardashian) and Selma Blair (who plays Kris). In fact, Jenner and Blair have grown so tight the actress attended the family’s Christmas Eve party. “However they want to portray us is fine,” she added, “I still want to see it.”
Lamar Odom cannot yet walk on his own and has suffered from cognitive impairment, speech problems and kidney damage since the health scare. Doctors discovered cocaine and opiates in his system back in October, when he laid in a coma for four days.
