Madonna Ready For Super Bowl 2012 ‘Halftime’ Show

Madonna Super Bowl – Madonna and the NFL have confirmed the Super Bowl 2012 Halftime show. After rumors first circulated about two weeks ago, the ‘Material Girl’ will perform on the field. It’s not much of a surprise, as we were one of the first to report the news for the Halftime show.

Madonna’s Super Bowl appearance will mark a true return to pop music for the NFL. In February 2011, we saw a fantastic performance by the Black Eyed Peas, Usher and guitarist Slash, all on the same stage. It was the first non-rock performance for football’s biggest night since the 2004 Janet Jackson-Justin Timberlake wardrobe “malfunction” controversy.

League organizers have played it safe by booking top bands that lean on the aging, classic rock side of the genre, including Paul McCartney (2005), The Rolling Stones (2006), Prince (2007), Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (2008), Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band (2009) and The Who (2009).

The performance will come at the the perfect time when the Material Girl, 53, releases a new single and her romantic drama, “W.E.,” hits theaters just two days before the NFL kickoff.

Where Is Superbowl 2012?

Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the Indianapolis Colts, will serve as the home of Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5, 2012. This will be the first Super Bowl held in Indianapolis. In addition, Madonna will be the only second major female artist to grace the halftime stage in eight years.
