The Magnificent Seven reboot could be in the works that would involve Tom Cruise, Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner, but that’s if we can believe the unreliable British tabloids on the report.
According to The Sun, Cruise has enlisted the fellow A-listers to join him on the recently-announced western.
“MGM are throwing big money at the film and wanted some top names to fill the main parts,” a source said. “You can’t get much bigger than Cruise and Damon,” the source added.
Tom will play Yul Brynner’s role as Chris. Morgan Freeman may be villain Calvera, while Kevin Costner could play Britt.
If it’s true, then expect the film to have one of the biggest budgets of all time and perhaps broken sales records on the day of its release.
Cruise is said to have agreed to appear as one of the gang of gunslingers in the adaptation of John Sturges’ 1960 film.
Damon is set to star alongside him as ‘Vin’, the character Steve MCQueen played in the original.
However, that’s if Hollywood is interested in making Western movies again, a genre that’s hard to sell to modern moviegoers.
