Mariah Carey has posted a Whitney Houston tribute on her YouTube page after attending the funeral of the pop legend last weekend.
Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey once recorded a duet together called “When You Believe,” which was featured in the 1998 soundtrack for DreamWorks animated film, “The Prince of Eygpt,” and also appeared separately on their solo albums.
On Carey’s official YouTube page, she has put together a video of her favorite highlights of Houston’s career and life, including the video for the duet they performed jointly.
Carey also posted the tribute to her Twitter account, saying, “Whitney, my friend, I love you, I miss you. Your legend lives on forever.”
Once a rival early in their careers, the two became close friends, and after learning of Houston’s passing an upset Carey tweeted, “Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”
As for the duet, ‘When You Believe’ reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received the Academy Award in 1999 for Best Original Song.
