The Mary Tyler Moore reunion will soon become a reality as the female cast members will appear on the Sept. 4 episode of Hot in Cleveland on TV Land.
The names are Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman, Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White and Georgia Engel. The legendary TV show ran from 1970 to 1977 on CBS.
“Hot in Cleveland” airs at 10 p.m. Wednesdays. Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”) and George Hamilton also guest star in the reunion episode.
The plot: Elka (White) and Mamie Sue (Engel) want to get their old bowling team together. The team was known as the Gorgeous Ladies of Bowling, or GLOB, and also featured Diane (Moore), Peg (Leachman) and Angie (Harper). But a championship season caused the team to split apart years ago.
In the episode, Ferguson will play an indie-movie director, and Hamilton portrays a date for Joy (Jane Leeves).
Harper is waging a well-publicized battle with terminal brain cancer, but she continues working. She is acting in an UP movie, “The Town That Came A-Courtin’.” And she will share her personal story through an NBC documentary.
“The Mary Tyler Moore Show” featured Moore as news producer Mary Richards, Harper as good pal Rhoda Morgenstern, Leachman as landlord Phyllis Lindstrom, White as Happy Homemaker Sue Ann Nivens and Engel as Georgette, wife of anchor Ted Baxter.
This should be a good episode not to miss. ,
