Maya Rudolph Makes Saturday night Live Hosting Debut

Maya Rudolph made her Saturday Night Live hosting debut this past weekend.

The former cast member of SNL was making her hosting debut on the late-night comedy variety show February 18, 2012.

Rudolph, 39, received praises for her astonishing impressions and comical opening stand-up bit.

While opening the show, Maya stated, “I am so happy to be back here at Snl with all my friends, my Snl family.”

“It’s a dream come true to be hosting, it really is. I will never forget the seven amazing years I had in this studio. Every face I see reminds me of a special moment I’ve shared. So many special moments, some of them sexual,” she added.

Then, the comedic actress began to sing a song about her sensual secret meetings during her “wild child” days on the comedy show. Later, she even brought back her beloved character Jodi.

However, Maya’s largest laughs came when she did a Beyonce skit, featuring Jay Pharoah playing Jay Z, Fred Armisen as Prince, Keenan Thompson playing LL Cool J, Nasim Pedrad as Nicki Minaj and Taran Killam and Abby Elliot acting as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The power couple was welcoming guest to their home to meet their brand-new baby, Blue Ivy.

The best line of the skit was when Justin Timberlake’s Justin Vernon apologized to Beyonce, saying, “Sorry I’m late…I was just wandering in the woods barefoot in Wisconsin, fashioned this guitar out of a canoe, and I wrote a song for your baby.” However, he put himself to sleep with the sound of his own song.
