After performing on Monday nights ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ contestant and actress Melissa Gilbert was sent to the hospital when she started to complain of dizziness after apparently hitting her head on the floor and getting injured.
The 47-year-old Gilbert has been paired with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy this season. And during their Monday night rendition of the ‘paso doble,’ though it was hardly noticeable and Gilbert didn’t immediately complain, she struck her head on the floor. At the end of the show host Tom Bergeron announced that she had been taken to the hospital.
Melissa’s rep has since told CNN, “As a result of hitting her head during the dance [Monday], Melissa has a mild concussion and whiplash. She is at home, resting comfortably and looking forward to her next dance,”
Previosly Gilbert had written on a blog post for People.com, how grueling the rehearsals had been and she was getting pretty banged up.
“This Week Has Been a Killer,” she writes. “Bruises are not sexy. Neither are burns, cuts, scrapes, sore muscles and calloused feet … I have a burn on my ankle from being dragged across the floor by Maks. It will scar. No question. The scar is mine. I earned it by working really hard.”
