After fans found out what producer Michael Bay’s idea for the new ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ movie was they became very upset, with him responding that they “need to chill.”
All the fan hatred came about after it was found out that Bay’s movie company, Platinum Dunes, which is producing a remake on the story, plans on having the turtles be aliens from space rather than originating from the sewers of New York City.
At a Nickelodeon event in New York, Bay announced, “These turtles are from an alien race, and they’re going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable.”
Well, that announcement just set the internet on its head with fans outraged of the concept change to the story. “This is terrible!” one fan said. “I wonder what else he will do to them.”
“Ever since it was announced Michael Bay had a hand in the film re-launch, I knew something bad would come of it!” another complaint read.
Former “TMNT” voice actor Robbie Rist said in a message to Bay obtained by TMZ, “You probably don’t know me but I did some voice work on the first set of movies that you are starting to talk about sodomizing. I know believing in mutated talking turtles is kinda silly to begin with but am I supposed to be led to believe there are ninjas from another planet? The rape of our childhood memories continues. …”
After hearing all the backlash Bay himself was quoted as saying, “Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.”
