Michael Jordan was banned from a Miami golf course on Wednesday for refusing to wear pants. On Wednesday, the 6x NBA Champion was asked to leave the La Gorce Country Club after he refused to change out of his cargo shorts and into a pair of pants.
In fact, he was offered a pair of Bermuda Shorts, but he turned those down.
Jordan showed up to the Country Club wearing cargo shorts, which is against the facilities’ dress code. However, no one confronted him until he was already on the 12th hole of their golf course. Then the Hall of Famer was asked by club personnel to return to the clubhouse and change into pants.
When Jordan refused to comply, he was asked to never return to La Gorce Country Club.
A representative of Jordan released the following statement:
“Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants. He had been there many times before and had worn cargo pants previously, and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code. This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point he did refuse to interrupt his game, and return to the clubhouse and change. We were not aware that he is not allowed to return to La Gorce. I guess it’s their loss — as MJ is a great golfer, and a great guest.”
