Mindy McCready Missing, Arrest Warrant Could Be Today

Mindy McCready – Singer Mindy McCready tells police in Florida that she and her son are not missing. A judge gave her until Thursday afternoon to return voluntarily or risk an arrest warrant. There is now another development in this story — she told People.com that she’s five months pregnant with twins.

When McCready learned that the Florida Department of Children and Families filed the missing persons report with Cape Coral police, she called to let them know that her and the son were fine.

“I am working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out,” she wrote in an e-mail to “Access” Wednesday.

“I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me! There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert.”

Still, a judge has given McCready, who does not have custody of the boy, until Thursday to return him to her parents’ home.

McCready’s mother is the boy’s guardian and the singer was allowed to visit the boy at her father’s home, according to a department spokesman.

On Tuesday, DCF discovered that McCready and the boy were not at her father’s home.

DCF spokesman Terry Field told The Associated Press the agency asked a Lee County judge for an emergency pickup order, and the judge ruled McCready must return the boy voluntarily by Thursday afternoon or risk an arrest warrant.
