Country music singer Mindy McCready shot her dog before self at her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
The 37-year-old the mother of two was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound when police arrived at her residence.
“Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs,” a statement from the sheriff’s office read. “Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37-year-old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence … Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
The “Guys Do It All the Time” singer was found in the same area where her boyfriend, singer-songwriter David Wilson’s body was found just one month earlier. He was also shot to death. McCready claimed that she had nothing to do with his death. He was only 29.
The couples two sons, Zayne, 9, and Zander, 6, were in foster care at the time of their mother’s death. They were placed there when McCready was ordered by a judge to undergo treatment for mental illness and addiction issues three weeks after their father died.
