President Barack Obama speaks at youth town hall meeting on change, which is why some call it MTV Obama. The MTV forum was interesting and Obama gave forward answers to questions. The town hall meeting took place on October 14.
The one hour special was taped in Washington and aired live at 4 p.m. Eastern time. In addition, it will air on MTVu, Centric, TR3s and CMT networks. During the program, President Obama took questions from the audience of approximately 250 young people, as well as some being sent in via Twitter.
The questions included a wide range of topics, including the current job crisis, health care, LGBT issues and more. He faced quite a few questions on LGBT issues. A young teacher asked, why he won’t end DADT with an executive order.
“This is not a question of whether the policy will end,” Obama stated. “This policy will end. It will end on my watch … I can’t simply ignore laws that are out there. I have to work to make sure they are changed.” In addition, the president stated that he doesn’t believe being gay is a choice in response to a question via Twitter.
