It’s May 25th, also known as: National Wine Day. It’s a special day to celebrate fine grapes by drinking win. In fact, Here are some suggestions on where you can do that.
Therapy Wine Bar in Bed-Stuy is a personal favorite. They have a gorgeous (and spacious) deck out back, a friendly staff, and wine cocktails on top of their reasonably priced regular glasses and bottles. A summer favorite is the Concrete Rose, which is basically a rosé slushie. And if you’re in Bed-Stuy, stop by Bed-Vyne Wine, they’re the only place in Brooklyn right now to carry the new (Drew) Barrymore wine!
The Black Mountain Wine House in Gowanus has nearly a 5-star rating on Yelp, and the full approval of many Gothamist staffers. They had us at their rustic front door, and kept us coming back with a fireplace and a $28 bottle of Rosé.
Sweet Revenge serves wine and cupcakes, so they win. They also pair up wine with cupcakes, making the experience nearly flawless. They also have a great happy hour, where for $10 you get a glass of sangria and a cupcake (that offer is good Monday through Friday, 4 to 8 p.m.).
The Upper West Side’s Barcibo Enoteca is another fave amongst our staff. They offer an Italian-only wine list with more than 100 options by the bottle and 40 by the glass. To soak it up they have tapas fare, like small plates of salami, prosciutto, and cheese.

If you want to make your own wine cocktail at home, the Grey Lady recently decided the wine spritzer needs an update, offering recipes that will have you mixing wine with rum. But that’s crazy–just pour some chilled white wine over a bag of frozen raspberries, add some club soda or seltzer and some slices of lemon, and dip your glass in. Repeat.
And finally, here are some damn fine wine tips from Agent Cooper–who now makes his own wine.
