The next Batman movie will bring a level of conclusion and satisfaction to the franchise and fans. The franchise that brought us “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” is about to give fans a shocking end to the series. According to director Christopher Nolan, the movie is still in its preliminary scripting stage.
“Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we’re telling, and it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories,” Nolan said in a statement.
Batman 3 is still in development, but it’s only because everyone wants to make sure the movie is the sendoff and pay off that brings the ultimate entertainment value. In addition, with so much epic fan boy love for “The Dark Knight,” expectations are very high. It is the third highest-grossing film of all time.
“My brother is writing a script for me, and we’ll wait to see how it turns out… he’s struggling to put it together into the epic story that you want it to be,%u201D Nolan said in a statement.
There are still plenty of villains left in the franchise to be featured, including Catwoman, who would arguably become the love of Bruce Wayne’s life. Previous movies also included The Riddler, Penguin and Poison Ivy. It may be the end, but it might be the beginning to spawn a new character, who knows.
The Dark Knight Featured Heath Ledger As The Joker
The Dark Knight was released in 2008 and was directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan. The film is a sequel to 2005′s “Batman Begins.” Christian Bale reprises the lead role.
The film follows Bruce Wayne/Batman (Bale), District Attorney Harvey Dent/Two-Face (Aaron Eckhart), Assistant D.A. Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), and Police Commissioner James Gordon (Gary Oldman). It features their struggles and journey in combating the new rising threat of a criminal who goes by the name of the “Joker” (Heath Ledger). The movie was filmed in Chicago, as well as in several other locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong.
Nolan used an IMAX camera to film some sequences, including the Joker’s first appearance in the film. On January 22, 2008, after he had completed the film, Heath Ledger died from a toxic combination of prescription drugs. This only brought immediate attention from the press and the public.
There was talk of replacing Heath Ledger’s role, but that was too expensive. Warner Bros. had already created a viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight with screen shots of Ledger as the Joker. However, the studio did change its promotional campaign and focused on other areas of the movie without Ledger.
