Actress Nikki Reed is banned from “The Vampire Diaries” set by producers after her boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder, upset Nina Dobrev.

Somerhalder, 35, and Dobrev, 25, are co-stars on the show. Producers banned Nikki Reed because her relationship with Somerhalder is upsetting Dobrev. They dated from 2011 and called it quits in 2013, according to the Examiner.

Somerhalder has since moved on with Nikki Reed, 25. The two have been very open about their relationship and are rumored to be talking about marriage. However, it has been reported that Dobrev is not taking it well and is even considering quitting the show.

“Ian and Nikki’s relationship is causing a lot of drama, to the point where the producers have asked Ian not to bring Nikki to set when Nina is there because they are very worried about losing her,” a source told Hollywood Life after Nikki Reed was banned.

Dobrev plays Elena, the show’s main character. A source shared that she has been so upset over the relationship that she is considering leaving their hit CW series when her contract expires at the end of the sixth season.

“[Dobrev] wants to make a splash in her career and do more movies. As for Nikki and Ian’s relationship being the main reason, that would be only the reason to speed up things, but not the main thing, she just wants to grow as an actress,” the source also said that the actress had been attending business meetings and exploring opportunities outside of the show.

It was alleged that Dobrev and Somerhalder argued a lot towards the end of their three-year-relationship, and that the actors were no longer on speaking terms even though they were forced to keep working together on set.

The actress has been linked to Derek Hough since the break-up. Somerhalder, on the other hand, lay low after the relationship ended. He was first spotted with Nikki Reed in July of this year, being the first woman he has been publicly linked to since Dobrev. Nikki Reed is best known for her supporting role as Rosalie Hale in the “Twilight” movie franchise.

Because Dobrev might leave the show, producers have asked Somerhalder not to bring Reed to the set. The producers worry that the show would fall apart before it has a chance to end this season, so they decided Nikki Reed is banned from the set.

The source doesn’t believe that the actress will try to get out of her contract before the season ends, since it would be very costly. However, despite the unlikelihood of her exit during the middle of the season ends, it can happen. Dobrev hasn’t also signed on for anything beyond the series’ current season.

However, there’s another twist to this Reed story. The allegations that Nikki Reed was banned come directly was a false rumor. According to Gossip Cop, there is no such “exclusive source” that made up the rumor, and they even went so far to say that the producers are not worried that Dobrev might leave the show over Ian Somerhalder’s new relationship, Gossip Cop notes.

While Nikki Reed is banned, the show goes on, even though the interesting set of events are taking place. “The Vampire Diaries” started airing in 2009. It is based on a young adult book series by L.J. Smith.
