Octomom Files For Bankruptcy Chapter 7 Protection

After spending $520 on a hairstylist to make a house call last week, the ‘Octomom’ Nadya Suleman, has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy protection this week and could be evicted from her home very soon.

In the paperwork filed on Monday in an Orange County, California Superior Court, Suleman claims she has debts of $1 million and only assets of $50,000.

The Octomom released a statement through her spokesperson after filing that read, “I have had to make some very difficult decisions this year, and filing Chapter 7 was one of them.”

She adds, “But I have to do what is best for my children, and I need a fresh start.”

Compounding her financial woes is the fact that she and her 14 children could be evicted from the home she is renting due to the fact that she hasn’t paid her rent in a while. Her landlord, Amer Haddadin says that Suleman is $30,000 behind in rent payments and that because she hasn’t paid him, he hasn’t been able to pay the mortgage, and the home has gone into foreclosure and is due to be auctioned off next week.

Suleman, who was criticized for collecting food stamps last month, also rely’s on Social Security disability payments as her only source of income currently. She owes money to several people and businesses, including her father, and the private school she was sending her children too.
