Russell Brand wanted by police after breaking a reporter’s expensive cell phone.
Authorities in New Orleans want to talk to British comedian and actor Russell Brand after an incident involving a paparazzi member’s cell phone.
Allegedly, Brand became annoyed by a paparazzi member taking pictures on his camera phone and took it from him and threw into the side of a building.
According to the complaint filed, by Timothy Jackson, with the police, he claims he was, “tailing the British funnyman when he approached Jackson’s car, wrestled away his iPhone and heaved it through the window of a nearby law firm, shattering the glass.”
Other paparazzi members in the area caught the incident on film and have been showing off their pics of Brand doing exactly what Jackson claims.
Meanwhile the New Orleans Police Department says no charges have been filed nor has there been a warrant issued, but they would like to talk to Brand, but have not been able to contact him.
“We have had several attempts to get in contact with Russell Brand, all which were unsuccessful,” a department spokesman tells E! News.
Brand is currently in the New Orleans area working on a new film, with Julianne Hough and Octavia Spencer.
This is not the first legal issue Brand has had to deal with with stemming from run-ins with the paparazzi. Brand was once arrested in 2010 on suspected battery charges after he allegedly attacked a paparazzo who blocked his and then-fiancé Katy Perry’s way to catch a flight at the Los Angeles International Airport. A video of the incident was later obtained by TMZ. Brand posted a $20,000 bail afterwards to get out of jail.
