Actor Russell Brand has been quiet since he filed papers to divorce Katy Perry, but now he’s also giving her their $5.6m home in Los Angeles. He’s considered to be worth less than his ex-wife but has made it clear that he’s not after the pop singer’s money.
A quick claim deed was filed in Los Angeles on the property indicating that Russell was relinquishing his rights on the property to Perry.
According to sources, Perry is receiving the house as part of a property settlement in the couple’s divorce. Brand recently told People that he was not letting the divorce effect him negatively.
“I’m doing well… You don’t need to brush it off if you don’t get it on you in the first place.”
He added, “I don’t have to let anything go. I don’t hold on to anything negative. It’s the same as zero-ness. It’s not about letting it go. You can’t let go of something you don’t hold, you know. It’s meaningless… And I don’t do that anymore.”
Perry and Brand met on the set of “Get Him To The Greek” in 2009 with Perry making a cameo appearance that was cut from the movie in final editing of the movie. The two married in October of 2010 and filed for divorce 14 months later in December of 2011.
The divorce will be final by July of 2012 as California law constitutes a six-month waiting period on divorces.
