Actor Ryan O’Neal has been diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer, but is expected to make a full recovery. He was the long-time boyfriend of Farrah Fawcett and was with her during her public battle with cancer and death three years ago.
O’Neal, 70, who became famous as the star of Love Story in 1970, released a statement to People.com:
“Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and, according to my extraordinary team of doctors, the prognosis is positive for a full recovery.”
O’Neal was a major figure as Fawcett detailed her battle with anal cancer in a documentary. The actress died in 2009. The actor has a book coming out about their years together. Both of Us is set for release in May 1.
O’Neal recently took part in a reality show with daughter Tatum O’Neal.
