Arnold Schwarzenegger displayed the power of his M47 Patton tank during a press event for his upcoming film “The Last Stand.” It seems only fitting that the actor and former California governor would own his own military vehicle as he is well known for being in the Austria military.

Schwarzenegger purchased this tank in 1992 and uses it quite frequently in coordination with his Inner City Games Foundation (ICG), which provides cultural, educational and community enrichment programming to inner-city kids.
The tank is “exactly the very tank that I [drove] in the Austrian Army when I was 18 years old,” explained the 65-year-old actor while speaking on video.
The press event took place, on Friday, at the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio in Los Angeles. During the promotion for the action drama film, Schwarzenegger took reporters for rides on the tank and used it to flatten a car.
In “The Last Stand,” written by Andrew Knauer and directed by Kim Ji-woon, Schwarzenegger will act as Sheriff Ray Owens a former LAPD officer. Other stars in the film include Johnny Knoxville, Forest Whitaker, Rodrigo Santoro, and Jaimie Alexander.
It will open in theaters everywhere on Jan. 18, 2013.
