Scout Willis, the daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, was arrested in New York City on Monday night after being caught drinking while underage and providing a police officer with a fake I.D.
Willis, 20, had been suspected of drinking a beer in Union Square when she was arrested the Daily News reports.
Court documents indicated that Willis was drinking an 8-ounce Pakistani beer when a police officer spotted her and asked to see her I.D., the identification she first handed the officer had the name of Katherine Kelly on it. Apparently feeling pressure to come clean, as the officer continued to question her, Willis eventually handed over her real California issued drivers license.
“My name is Scout Willis,” she told the officer, according to the criminal complaint. “The first ID isn’t mine. My friend gave it to me. I don’t know Katherine Kelly.”
Willis was then booked and charged with criminal impersonation and breaking New York’s open container law, which are considered to be misdemeanors. She was released without bail early the next morning, and is due back in court on July 31st.
Meanwhile, Scout’s lawyer told People that the arrest was “ridiculous” and she did not enter a guilty plea due to the fact it would create a permanent criminal record for her.
“It would be outrageous to mar a person that’s clearly going places – clearly seeking to have a career… with a criminal record. The goal is clearly a non-criminal offer,” the lawyer said.
Scout has been in New York attending the Ivy League school of Brown University since the fall of 2009.
