Security guard dies in freak accident on NCIS set. Security guard Julio Garcia dies in a freak stage accident on the set of ‘NCIS’ Wednesday morning. He was tending a stating area when he was hit by a production vehicle outside a vacant building.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriffs officials, Ralph Blunt, 60, was a driving a passenger van when he suffered some kind of medical condition. He lost control of the NCIS vehicle and struck the security guard Julio Garcia before hitting two parked cars. Garcia, a resident of Reseda, was transported to a local hospital where he was later passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.

Blunt was also transported to a local hospital for observation but was later released. CBS Productions released in a statement Wednesday that the production has been suspended until further notice. Police are still investigating the accident.

“Everyone at the network, the studio and NCIS is devastated by the news. Our hearts grieve for his family and friends for this tragic loss. We are, of course, cooperating with the local authorities in Santa Clarita to help determine what caused this terrible accident.”

The producers of ‘NCIS’ also commented on the on-set accident: “With profound sympathy we mourn the tragic passing of our co-worker and friend. ‘NCIS’ is a family. And, as with any family, we are deeply saddened by this unexpected loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.”
