Seinfeld Live Co-Host In Philbin’s Former Post

Seinfeld Live Co-Host – Seinfeld was smooth today as he joined the “Live” program this morning as co-host.

Regis Philbin retired last Friday, but the show must go on, and so ABC announced Tuesday that comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be the first celebrity to join the “Live ! With Kelly” show.

The morning show’s next chapter without Philbin kicked off Monday Nov. 21. Host Kelly Ripa, who joined the long-running show in 2001 as Kathie Lee Gifford’s replacement, will be accompanied by Seinfeld for the first few episodes (Nov. 21-23).

“Jerry is a great friend of ours, and a friend of Kelly’s, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s an entertainment icon,” said executive producer, and frequent Philbin punching bag, Michael Gelman in a statement. “It’s a great way to kick off the new beginning of our show.”

Philbin announced his retirement from the talk show at the start of this season. His last day was Nov. 18. Live will continue with Kelly Ripa, and will begin searching for a new co-host by having various people try-out guest hosting with Ripa, in a similar fashion to how she was selected to co-host with Philbin.

Among the guests who stopped by to join Ripa and Seinfeld are actor Jason Segel, Miss Piggy, Kim Cattrall and Howie Mandel.
