Shakira pulls no punches on TV, but she might be leaving the judge panel on The Voice the autumn. It’s rumoured that Christina Aguilera is returning to NBC’s popular talent show.
Aguilera left last year to promote her album Lotus, which came out in November to disappointing sales. Cee Lo Green, who was part of the original line up with with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, also took a break at the same time as the 32-year-old Genie in a Bottle star.
“Everybody can’t coach for life because when you have people with current recording in the game, this is not their job,” he said when he left, but Aguilera – who regularly stole the show with her razor-sharp observations – is obviously missing her calling.
Shakira and Usher took their places on the panel for series four, which finishes on June 18. This series has been a bit of a rollercoaster with the live elimination round getting off to a rocky start last week when Carson Daly announced a voting scandal.
The hit NBC singing competition experienced inconsistencies in this week’s texting and online voting, Daly told a nationwide audience.
Jason George, the British CEO of vote-tallying firm Telescope, stood next to Daly as viewers were told that text and online voting were not included in the voting results.
“Here’s the good news. Telescope certifies that removing those votes did not effect the outcome,” Daly said.
Los Angeles-based Telescope also has provided vote-counting services for Fox’s American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and X Factor.’We quickly identified the problem and were able to take steps to make sure it doesn’t reoccur,’ George said.
The show moved ahead despite the voting scandal with the four judges of Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Usher and Shakira winnowing the field from 16 to 12.
