In another round of excerpts coming from the unauthorized autobiography of Simon Cowell’s life, he denounced the ‘gay’ rumors that have hounded him throughout his career. The music mogul did admit that if he was gay, he would not be hiding it because he would not be ashamed.
In 2002 rock legend Elton John asked him. “When are you going to come out and admit you’re gay?” Cowell jokingly replied, “If it means I end up with you, Elton, then never.”
Later, he told author of “Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell,” Tom Bower, “If I was gay, why wouldn’t I admit it? It wouldn’t harm me, and my mother wouldn’t freak out.”
What does freak him out is the release of a book revealing his private life, which he told TMZ he was “embarrassed” by. “It’s not my habit to kiss and tell. I’ve never done it. I’ve always tried to keep my private life private, and it is unfortunate,” he said. “So I was feeling very embarrassed and not gentlemanly at all this week because it’s just not my style.”
One other interesting tidbit that has come from the book is the fact that he insists on having a stock of black toilet paper in his home.
