Tonya Harding has married, but the wedding was a secret. The skating champion got married last month and people are just now finding out about it. Tonya Harding’s ceremony was probably one of the most kept secrets in the entertainment industry.
Harding, 39, obtained a marriage license and married 42-year-old Joseph Jens Price on June 23, 2010. Pastor Lloyd Ward of the Community Church of God officiated at the wedding. In 1990 at the young age of 19 Harding married her first husband, Jeff Gillooly.
Their tumultuous marriage ended in divorce in 1993, when she was 22. The Olypian became notorious after Gillooly conspired with the skater’s bodyguard, Shawn Eckhardt, to hire Shane Stant to attack Harding’s skating competitor Nancy Kerrigan. This attack took place at a practice session, during the 1994 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Gillooly, Stant, Eckardt, and getaway car driver Derrick Smith all served time in prison for the attack. Harding received three years of probation, 500 hours of community service and a $160,000 fine. She is banned for life from participating in USFSA-run events as either a skater or a coach.
