Star Trek Stars: Where are they now? Here’s a list of the original cast members of the Starship Enterprise.

Captain Kirk – William Shatner – He played Captain James T. Kirk, the intense leader of the Starship Enterprise. His charismatic machismo helped define the “Star Trek” formidable leader. He is now a talk show host for a variety of syndicated programs.

Dr. Leonard McCoy – DeForest Kelley (Jan. 20, 1920 – June 11, 1999) – This western film veteran embraced the role of Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, a divorced country doctor from Georgia. It’s believed that the dynamics between Kirk, Spock and Bones are what made the series a classic.

Scotty – James Doohan (March 3, 1920 – July 20, 2005) – The Canadian-born actor’s talent with languages helped him speak the Scottish brogue of Scotty, an engineer with a knack for saving the Enterprise. A lesser-known fact is Doohan’s work as the voices and languages of the many alien species that appeared on Star Trek.

Mr. Spock – Leonard Nimoy – He played Mr. Spock, who was the only crew member to have green blood and what “Bones” called “perfect brain waves.” He went on to appear in a number of the “Star Trek” films. He has since retired.

Gene Rodenberry – (Aug. 19, 1921 – Oct. 24, 1991) – The World War 2 veteran found a career writing for a number of cop shows before creating the hit that made him famous.

Nurse Chapel – Majel Barrett (Feb. 23, 1932 – Dec. 18, 2008) – In the original Star Trek pilot episode, “The Cage,” she was second in command to Captain Pike. After NBC requested changes, she played Nurse Chapel, under the command of Captain Kirk on the USS Enterprise.
