Is Tom Cruise leaving Scientology for Katie Homes and Suri Cruise? It seems like he’s willing to do anything to stop his divorce and is making it clear that his wife and daughter are more important than his religion. The actor has spent the last 30 years with the group and has been one of its high profile supporters.
This comes as a new source, who’s considered to be a close friend of the actor, says Cruise is having second thoughts about the religion after it crumbled his marriage to Holmes and second wife Nicole Kidman.
The friend tells The People, “Now he’s lost the most precious thing in his life, he sees that his Scientology beliefs may not have hurt his box office [success] but have ended not one but two marriages.”
He added, “He lost Nicole and now his wife and daughter. He has always used the Scientology techniques, but he has now realised they don’t work in marriage.”
It was said that Holmes and Cruise disagreed in their daughter, Suri’s involvement of Scientology, with Katie wanting her to be taught a more traditional religious belief.
Scientology church leader, David Miscavige, had become extremely close to Cruise, but since the Holmes divorce, the relationship between the two men has greatly deteriorated.
“Tom and David have been attached at the hip but this relationship has deteriorated and that, along with the loss of Katie and Suri, is forcing him to question his role in the church. He hasn’t lost faith completely but he is blaming Scientology for what has happened,” said the source.
Cruise joined the Scientology church in 1990 during a short marriage to first wife Mimi Rogers, who had already been a member in the religion due to her father.
Now the source believes that, “if Tom truly leaves, Katie would reconsider. She was in love with Tom, he was her childhood crush, it took a lot of strength to break free. But now she has peace of mind but no love.”
