Tori Spelling was left being broke after her famous TV producer father died, because he excluded her from his will, and her mother Candy Spelling would keep the pledge. Even with her own career, she still doesn’t have much money.
The actress claims she and her husband Dean McDermott actually had to scrap plans of getting a vasectomy because they couldn’t afford it.
A simple Google search reveals that the cost of a vasectomy ranges from $300 to $3,500 so if what Tori is saying is true, then it’s clear that her family has seen better days. However, the fact that she’s talking about her financial woes as part of the promo for her new book makes it somewhat odd.
The former “Beverly Hills 90201” alum also tries to explain why she had such a hard time adjusting to life after her father died.
“I haven’t bought a purse in three years. And it’s fine. I look back on that girl who shopped at Gucci in my 20s and I can’t even relate. I can’t believe I thought it was important,” she told the Daily Mail.
“It’s no mystery why I have money problems. I grew up rich beyond anyone’s dreams. I never knew anything else. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle I can’t seem to let go of my expensive tastes. And then there’s my shopping problem. I’ve bought ridiculous amounts of stuff for the kids, clothing, toys, crafts,” she explains.
Tori blames herself for her money problems but, looking on the brighter side of things, at least now she knows she has a problem, and she’s working on it.
Another reason for why she’s broke now is the fact that neither she nor Dean has any kind of job security.
“We’re in the entertainment business and things change year to year. We don’t have a series on the air right now, so we have to be more restrictive of what we can spend, just like anyone who doesn’t currently have a steady job,” she says.
She promises she’s trying to raise her children differently from how she was raised.
Aaron Spelling died in 2003, and Tori was devastated when she found out he’d only left her less than $1 million in the will, because they didn’t get to reconcile before he passed. He was one of the richest people in TV, and all his money went to Candy, Tori’s mother.
The two mended broken bridges just recently.
