Donald Trump was busy on New Year’s Day as he slams the GOP, and since he had a lot of time on his hands, he also targeted the Democratic Party, President Obama, Sheena Monnin, Mark Cuban and about 20 other high-profile Americans just as the politicians were saving the country from a fiscal cliff.
“Obama and the Democrats are laughing at the deal they just made…the Republicans got nothing,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
However, if you thought that was hateful, he made sure to leave his mark when he talked about the GOP.
“I am a Republican…but the Republicans may be the worst negotiators in history!” Trump said. And the morning of Jan. 2 he tweeted: “This is a terrible deal for the country and an embarrassment for Republicans!” A few hours later that anti-GOP comment was re-tweeted almost 400 times.
The fiscal cliff deal – which was approved 257 to 167 – meant that for the first time in two decades, Republicans approved a bill that would raise taxes. But the biggest complaint is the lack of spending cuts.
“We’ve got to provide responsible spending balance long-term,” said Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.)Â “This bill does not do that.”
Nevertheless, a lecture from Donald Trump on Twitter has started to seem like an irritating Groundhog Day rerun. Trump’s Twitter rants came back with a vengeance on Nov. 26 when he tweeted 19 times in six hours. The subjects included everything from taxes to Afghanistan, windmills to the Rolling Stones.
Trump does drum up a lot of controversy for the GOP, and even though his Twitter comments may seem like a joke, he does get the attention he wants.
