Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, has released a statement about her daughter’s tragic death and there is information that the funeral is scheduled for Saturday in New Jersey.
Cissy: “We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney. This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends,” The mother said.
According to TMZ, Cissy, who is a Grammy Award–winning gospel singer herself, says that she spoke with Whitney just a half-hour before her death on the phone, and indicated that there was nothing wrong. She had also made plans with her cousin, singer Dione Warwick, for seating arrangements at a pre-Grammy party hosted by record producer, Clive Davis.
Before her mother became a solo gospel and soul singer, she sang back-up for artists such as Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin. Besides her daughter, she had 6 other children.
On Sunday, her daughter’s ex-husband performer Bobbi Brown also released a statement.
“I am deeply saddened at the passing of my ex-wife, Whitney Houston,” Brown had said. “At this time, we ask for privacy, especially for my daughter, Bobbi Kristina. I appreciate all of the condolences that have been directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time.”
Police released a statement Monday indicating that Whitney’s body was submerged in water from an apparent drowning. Witnesses say she took a Xanax prescription prior to taking a bath. They speculate that she fell asleep in the bathtub.
