Corey Haim's death and arrest is linked to a bizarre prescription drug ring. The person in custody has not been identified. State Attorney General Jerry Brown's office believes that the child actor had a fraudulent prescription for a powerful painkiller.
Haim's death and arrest have been linked to a prescription drug ring. It's the latest news in the bizarre incident surrounding the death of Corey Haim. A suspect has been arrested but was not identified.
"I can confirm there has been an arrest, but I have no other details," spokeswoman Christine Gasparac said in a statement.
State Attorney General Jerry Brown's office believes that the child actor had a fraudulent prescription for a powerful painkiller. It was obtained through a major drug ring. However, in a twist, the suspect in custody might not have anything to do with the drugs that killed Corey Haim.
Last week, Brown announced that his office was investigating the incident. Investigators found an unauthorized prescription in the actor's name found during a probe of fraudulent drug-prescription pads. The drug ring uses stolen doctor identities to order prescription drug pads from authorized sellers.
The doctors whose names are used were not aware. In addition, the Los Angeles County Coroner's officials have recovered four prescription drug bottles from the actor's home. They found no illegal drugs during his investigation.
The coroner refused to identify the drugs. However, authorities did confirm that an official cause will not be available for another month. An autopsy has been performed but toxicology tests are needed to determine the exact cause of death.
Corey's mother, Judy Haim, told the media that her son died of pulmonary congestion. This is a condition when the heart is enlarged. She also said that his lungs were filled with water.
"Lost Boys" Actor Had 20 Doctors, History of Drug Addiction, Illegal Prescriptions
The "Lost Boys" star passed away in Los Angeles on March 10. It is believed that he collapsed at his mother's house in the early hours of the morning. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police have discovered the child actor, who had a long history of addiction, obtained an illegal order for painkiller OxyContin. It was written out on a fake prescription pad. The pad has been linked to a suspected drug ring in San Diego, California.
Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. has revealed the actor could have used up to 20 doctors to ensure he got his drug fix. He said that sometimes he went to two different doctors on the same day. Brown believes that the actor was damaging his body by taking the medications.
Corey Feldman
Corey Feldman has inked a tribute to late actor Corey Haim on his arm. The new tattoo matches the one his pal sported when he was alive. Feldman has chosen to stay away from the memorial to keep the funeral as low-key as possible.
