Honda Insight Features Excellent MPG With 2010 Eco Assist

American Honda Motor Co., Inc is hoping to entice more Honda Insight 2010 buyers by offering an affordable car. The Insight Hybrid has an MPG rating of 43 miles per gallon. The new Insight SE 1.3 is built using the latest generation in technologies while providing drivers with spacious cabin room.

The Honda Hybrid is a five-door passenger vehicle is the first to deploy the new FCX Clarity fuel cell with low center gravity. It also comes with the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist) which optimizes control of the automatic transmission. The Eco Assist is also responsible for providing power and improved vehicle fuel efficiency related to its power train components.

The 2010 Honda Insight Interactive Speedometer Display

The car features a new interactive speedometer display with changing background colors. This is used to provide real-time guidance to the driver on achieving higher fuel efficiency. It is like sitting in a cockpit with gauges that show plant-leaf graphics and a scoring function which is designed to provide feedback.

The Hybrid automobile is powered by an advanced 1.3-liter SOHC engine with a new IMA hybrid system for exceptional fuel economy. The IMA system incorporates a 10-kilowatt (13 hp) electric motor and a compact Intelligent Power Unit (IPU). This technology recaptures and capture's kinetic energy from the vehicle braking system.

The IMA battery and IPU are located in the vehicle's rear floorboard which provides electric power in certain low to mid-speed driving conditions. The electric battery also provides for cylinder deactivation within the gasoline engine during deceleration and for engine shutoff when the vehicle is stopped. The car comes with a 10.6-gallon fuel tank and can deliver a maximum driving range in excess of 400 miles.

There is a 2010 Insight Hybrid tax credit which can be used when filing your 2009 income taxes. The IRS credit will vary, so be sure to read up on the latest tax benefits before April 15.
