A new baby bikini sold at Gordman’s, which is a onesie bodysuit with a woman’s silhouette, has been deemed inappropriate, and Wild Child, a brand manufacture red by Bon Bebe, doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about.
In the past, we’ve seen a French lingerie line aimed at kids, and crotchless panties sold at “Kids N Teen” stores.
But now comes the Gordman’s Bikini Wild Child outfit for 18-month-old girls.
“I just think that is a little ridiculous that you would put that on your child.” Cathryn McKee told a local news station.
The bikini onesie is only one of the Wild Child outfits on Bon Bebe’s website with a questionable message. Another reads “Lock Up Your Daughters” with a graphic of a padlock printed underneath.
Some shoppers are not as turned off by the latest children’s apparel in question as the moms and dads who reacted to these earlier infractions.
“I just don’t take offense to that at all,” mom Jeannie Stanley said when she was asked about the bikini onesie.
When contacted for comment, the store said the company’s president is the only one who is authorized to speak to the press, but he was out of town.
Gordman’s website says it provides “trusted products that meet the standards of discerning parents everywhere with our unique blend of quality style and value.”
But some would argue that discerning parents wouldn’t dress their child in an outfit that sexualizes them at such a young age.
