BlackBerry Smartphones will soon integrate with MySpace to offer online social network features. RIM plans to enable Microsoft Live Search within the mobile device to offer BlackBerry Maps.
Research in Motion Limited announced plans to expand its BlackBerry smartphone features. The company is working with Microsoft to offer Live Search in an effort to provide location-sensitive searches inside BlackBerry Maps.
Blackberry Smartphone users will be able to use the BlackBerry Browser to access Live Search to query results for weather forecasts, images, stock quotes, restaurants or news.
MySpace is also joining forces with RIM to develop an integrated MySpace Mobile service. The new service integrates the main social networking components from MySpace with the BlackBerry platform. It will provide instant messaging and data transmissions for content, videos, games, ringtones and other engaging features.
Analysts predict that over 800 million people will access social networks through their mobile cell phones by 2012.
The MySpace application will also include camera integration and optimized photo management. Smartphone users can snap, sort and upload pictures directly from the wireless device.
The new service is expected to be available in October 2008.
