Drivers Achieve Greater MPG Ratings With 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

One of the great features in the latest Ford Hybrid is its 2010 Ford Fusion MPG rating. It is rated high and far above any conventional vehicle. Moreover, it is still the most fuel efficient midsize sedan on the market.

The 2010 Fusion is among several hybrids that offer consumers better fuel economy. This car didn't meet its full popularity until gas prices began to rise in 2008. Ford has done extension research and has tested this vehicle for maximum fuel efficiency repeatedly.

Last April, Ford went out and proved just how efficient this automobile is. The automaker conducted road tests and drove the car for more than 1,445 miles on a full tank. They averaged about 80 miles per gallon. This is a great achievement, but there were certain driving techniques involved to help boost the fuel economy.

Some of these driving techniques included slower acceleration and coasting to stops instead of braking too quickly. These techniques more than doubled the mileage on the Ford Fusion, but it would be too difficult to practice these moves under real driving conditions. For example, it would be difficult to coast to red lights in the city while moving in traffic, or too slowly accelerate on the highway without cars honking their horns at you.

However, the Ford Hybrid is equipped with an electric motor that will power the car at slower speeds. This is where the city mileage can get better, especially during stop-and-go traffic jams. The 2010 Fusion can drive at speeds up to 47 miles per gallon while using its EV mode design.

To help increase mileage even further, the dashboard and instrument panel features 3D gauges that can coach the driver to better fuel efficiency. It works like a scoring card, and it will reward the driver for following proper driving techniques. The panel unveils a new technology called the SmartGauge with EcoGuide. The better your drive more efficiently, the 3D section of the gauges will begin sprouting leaves to complete a green tree.

The Ford Hybrid vehicle is one of the best on the road today. The fuel economy for the Ford Fusion has a rating of 41 mpg in the city, and 36 mpg on the highway. However, several car owners are reporting mileage that is far greater, but it still depends on how you drive the hybrid.
