The Hubble Space Telescope has snapped the first picture of a planet outside our solar system. The planet is some 25 light years away and is similar in size to Jupiter. It is orbiting the star Fomalhaut and is named Fomalhaut b.
The Mars lander mission is now reached its end. The Phoenix Lander is responsible for finding ice and water on Mars. The spacecraft sent its last message on November 2 before losing power.

Mars Lander Reaches Its End

NASA officials have declared an end the Mars Lander mission. The Phoenix probe survived nearly three months longer than expected. Lower temperatures on the Red Planet have plagued the spacecraft as winter nears.
The new six-wheel rover is the size of an SUV. It is powered by nuclear energy. However, the space agency needs more funding to complete the $2 billion project. Mission specialists hope to begin the first mission for the new rover to Mars next fall.

NASA on Friday said it will move forward with a super-sized rover to Mars next year. The space agency plans to work on a Mars Science Laboratory to roam the planet. The rover will be nuclear powered.
The Endeavour mission will increase the ISS resident crew capacity from three to six. The shuttle was being prepared for a rescue flight if Atlantis sustained damage during its Hubble servicing mission.

NASA has set the launch date for Endeavour to November 14. The date was bumped by two days to make way for Atlantis. The launch for Atlantis was scheduled for October 14.
The Mars Phoenix Lander has detected snow from the Martian atmosphere. The snow fell from clouds about 3 miles above the lander's ground position. Scientists say the snow is melting before it hits the ground.

The Hubble Control Unit Data Formatter which transmits spectacular images has malfunctioned. The upcoming mission was to repair the malfunction. However, the Hubble developed a new problem over the weekend. The telescope has revolutionized astronomy since its launch in 1990.

NASA has delayed the upcoming launch of the Atlantis space shuttle to repair the Hubble space telescope. NASA said the Hubble developed a problem storing and transmitting data. Atlantis had been scheduled to lift-off on October 14.
The Endeavor crater is 20 times larger than one dubbed Victoria. The rover crawled out of Victoria earlier this month. The probe can only travel across 110 yards per day.

The Mars Rover Opportunity is traveling to a crater far bigger than one it has called home for two years. The rover is well past its original three-month life expectancy. Scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory said it could take two years to reach its destination.
As of Tuesday, NASA says that hurricane Gustav will not delay the Atlantis mission. Atlantis will roll out to Launch Pad 39A.
