Nintendo is calling on its greatest superhero to help make the its Wii game system even hotter than last year.

Nintendo Wii is one year old and the company is celebrating it by launching a mega gaming title Super Mario Galaxy. The game is retailing for $49.99 and is the first game for Nintendo's "Super Mario" franchise in five years.

The game features Mario on a mission to rescue Princess Peach. She has been abducted into outer space and Mario is required to search for her in faraway galaxies jumping from one planet to another.

The game centers on the famous Italian plumber's quest to rescue Princess Peach once again. His travels will take him into outer space and distant galaxies.

The game play ranges wildly from traditional side-scrolling, to upside down 3D scenes. He can even travel from one planet to another. While older games had Mario grabbing mushrooms and other objects to gain new abilities in this edition the power ups include turning into a bee and flying through walls.

Nevertheless, just about every Mario game is welcomed with the kind of enthusiasm as next week's winning lottery numbers. We've previously had Mario in solid 2D and a glorious run in true 3D in Mario 64. This time he gets to flaunt his wares throughout the cosmos.

Critics are saying that this game is a must buy for any Mario fan.
