A very pregnant bride gave birth minutes after tying the knot at a wedding ceremony in Jallais in north west France and the guests were astonished when she went right into labor after the vows.
The unnamed woman began to feel unwell on the morning of her big day but decided to carry on regardless of her ill-health.
The wedding was scheduled to take place at 11am on Saturday but due to the bride feeling out of sorts it didn’t go ahead until just before midday.
All appeared to be going well until the couple started posing for photos in front of the village hall. The wedding party were astonished when the bride suddenly darted inside for no apparent reason and without warning.
“It did rather shake us up,” admitted Jean-Robert Gachet, mayor of Jallais, after hearing that mother and baby were doing well.
The bride was “definitely a bit worn out, but we put that down to the stress of the wedding. I tried to hurry it up a bit so that she didn’t get too tired,” said Gachet.
But it soon emerged that the mother-to-be was in labour and the next thing guests heard were the cries from a newborn baby boy – who had arrived eight days early.
An ambulance was called and transported mother and child to hospital where later in the day they were both said to be doing well.
