A Florida couple have been arrested on their first date. Devin Norling, 18, and Sydney Sanders, 19, were caught after trying to pull a dine and ditch. They were detained after dining at a TGI Fridays at the Indian River Mall in Vero Beach when they tried to bail on their bill.

Sanders left first, successfully making her way from the restaurant patio to the parking lot, police stated. However, an alarm sounded when Norling tried to leave via a fire exit, prompting a Friday’s manager to corner him and insist that he pay for the meal. Instead, Norling fled again, according to Very Beach police.

The manager said Norling had first asked where the bathroom was before trying to go through the fire exit. He said he then saw Sanders walking towards a nearby Macy’s.

Norling eventually hopped over the patio gate and was spotted running through the parking lot with Sanders, the affidavit said.

When the two were caught, police said they found a pipe with marijuana residue in Sanders’ purse. Norling told deputies it was the couples first date, and he was “basically homeless and had nothing to eat for a couple a days.”

Devin and Sydney were both charged with obtaining goods with intent to defraud, and Sanders was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. They were later released from the Indian River County jail.
