Driving Dog Bus – He’s a German Koolie, he’s two years old and he’s a man’s best friend, and he’s a dog that drives a bus.
The dog has been caught driving a double-decker mobile home in Australia after learning how to drive by watching his owner. The pull-away pooch made news over the globe when the NT news reported he took a 20-tonne bus for a joyride through Darwin.
UK tabloid The Sun nosed out the story about the “streetwise dog”, regaling the tale of the “clever mutt” who learned how to drive by watching his owner. Richard McCormack, 62, says Woodley unleashed the handbrake and hit the streets.
“He sits next to me when I’m driving and in the driver’s seat when I’m not,” he told the NTnews.
“The handbrake is on the dashboard and he’s seen me release it many times. He was just copying me. He”s tried it on before.” ” McCormack added.
The vehicle was eventually brought to a halt when bystander Phil Newton managed to jump in and put the hand brake back on. Luckily no-one was harmed and no damage was done. Woodley might be kept on a shorter leash in future though. “He’s still my best mate,” Mr McCormack said.
