Drunk Dad Tells 9 Year Old Daughter To Drive To Store

Drunk Dad Tells 9 Year Old Daughter To Drive – Unbelievable. Russell Weimer decided it was good to let his kid to take him to the store. Police have surveillance video from a gas station that shows him telling a clerk that his child was his “designated driver.”

Now Weimer, 39, is facing felony charges. The police were alerted after someone at the gas station witnessed the girl and her father pull in then leave with the child in the driver’s seat. The witness called 911 and told the dispatcher, “Just watched a van pull out of the Citgo Gas station … girl is driving it and her father is drunk and he’s in the passenger.”

The dispatcher asks if the vehicle is staying on the road and the caller replies, “She’s driving pretty good. I’m telling you, I can’t believe it.”

Brownstown Township Detective Lt. Robert Grant said the kid was sitting behind the wheel in a booster seat before 3 a.m. on Oct. 8, when an officer opened the driver’s side door of the full-sized panel van her father uses for work.

The 9-year-old daughter asked the first responding officer, “What did you stop me for? I was driving good,” Grant told the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.

Russell refused to take a breathalyzer but showed signs of being intoxicated. The 9-year-old daughter told police that her dad had been drinking whiskey all night. She said he had allowed her to drive before.

The dad was charged with second- and fourth-degree child abuse during an Oct. 10 arraignment. Weimer is free on a $25,000 personal bond and has been ordered not to have any contact with the girl who resides with her mother.
