Two hikers walking their dogs on a trail near the infamous “Hollywood” sign stumbled on a human severed head and feet stuffed in a plastic bag in Hollywood Hills.
LA police Sgt. Mitzi Fierro told a Los Angeles ABC news station that, “While the dogs were playing with it, at some point the object came out of the bag and they discovered it was a head. A severed head.”
Officials then mounted an investigation to find the rest of the victim’s body while bringing in cadaver dogs. Fierro added that the severed head seemed to be fresh with not much decomposition and belonged to a male.
On Wednesday the investigator’s were able to find severed feet and hands along the trail not far from where the head was found, and they believe the body parts are from the same male but were trying to confirm it.
Police were combing through missing person’s reports and the coroner’s office was trying to determine dental records, all in an effort to identify the man. Police believe the man was killed at a different location and the suspect dumped his parts in the Hollywood Hills afterwards. The case is being treated as a homicide.
