Kenneth Sands, a Rainier School District bus driver, blames caffeine in his defense for dropping three girls and two women during a volleyball game, but does is sentenced to five months.
In court, the 51-year-old stated that an excess amount of caffeine made him have a “psychotic episode” that drove him to grab the young girls and women inappropriately last October.
“My son-in-law and daughter have never seen this kind of behavior from myself,” Sands stated.
His first inappropriate grouping occurred while he was attending a high school volleyball game, where he “allegedly touched a 46-year-old woman’s breasts multiple times and later tried to grab her butt as she was trying to get away from him,” which was confirmed by the Lewis County Washington Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office during Sands’ lewd destruction, he grabbed a 15-year-old volleyball player’s butt and smacked a 16-year-old on her’s outside of the volleyball game, while they headed towards their bus. Subsequently, he went on a bus and molested an addition player. He was then kicked off by the bus driver who was working that evening.
Sands caffeine defense did not work and he received five counts of fourth-degree assault and was sentenced a total of five months behind bars, which was 30 days for each assault.
