Professor Hires Strippers. Professor John Michael Bailey of Northwestern University hires strippers for human-sexuality class. Students had an option to sit during a lecture that included a sex-toy demonstration.

Controversy ensued, and sides were taken over whether what he did was educational or beyond inappropriate. I wonder who will come forward and defend LaSalle University Professor Jack Rappaport, the man who hired strippers to come give lap dances to his business ethics students. Reports are mixed, but so far no logical reason has been cited for this extra-special classroom entertainment.

Students have confirmed that three scantily clad women were present for the extra-credit seminar on the application of Platonic and Hegelian ethics, but after that their stories diverge. Some students are claiming that willing participants were given lap dances – Professor Rappaport included, while he was lecturing, no less. However, others are denying any kind of touching occurred. The fun ended when a college official wandered into the seminar after about forty-five minutes. Professor Rappaport has been suspended indefinitely while LaSalle looks into the matter.

Perhaps the strangest part of this entire story is that all thirty students at the seminar had to pay $150 to be there. Talk about irony – business students had to pay money to attend an ethics seminar that would then give them extra – credit not only in the class, but in the entire College of Professional and Continuing Studies. On the other hand, sketchy deals and strippers are often par for the course in the world of business – so maybe Professor Rappaport is a genius after all.
