A Michigan mother defends spending nearly $4,500 a month for spray tan sessions on her two-year-old for beauty pageants, saying its worth every penny.
Lauren Jackson says she first entered Savanna into a ‘natural pageant’, which allows little or no make-up, when she was just 10-months-old and won. Ever since then she, along with Savanna’s grandmother, have taken her to pageants all across the country.
She says nowadays it is a must to get the spray tans just to be competitive and besides Savanna likes it.
“I just want her to have the best possible opportunity to win. Besides, Savanna loves it. Now, it’s a must for every pageant,” Lauren said. “To me the pageants are about having fun, building up her self-esteem, and giving my girl the best possible opportunity in life. When I see Savannah on that stage, her confidence blossoming, it’s worth every penny.”
Lauren has also supplied her two-year-old with a professional make-up artist, who applies eyeliner, mascara, lipstick and neatens her delicate eyebrows before every competition.
“There is a line but I strongly feel I’ve kept Savanna on the right side of it,” she said. “I’d never even consider surgery or Botox — she already wears more make-up than I do!”
