George Mcgovern And Hospital – George McGovern has finally been released from the hospital.
The former Senator ended up in a South Dakota medical facility on December 2, after falling and lacerating his forehead outside Wesleyan University near his home in Mitchell.
Reportedly, he was “bleeding profusely” but remained conscious the entire time while a helicopter took him to Sioux Falls for treatment, and was listed in guarded condition.
The 89-year-old hit his head on the pavement about two hours before he was scheduled to be interviewed on C-SPAN.
Hospital officials say McGovern has been released. Dr. Michael Elliott, chief medical officer at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, stated that George McGovern continues to improve and doctors are pleased with his progress.
However, he added that it’s important for him to rest quietly until he has completely healed.
McGovern is currently a historian and author.
