Jim Allen, Illinois GOP official, resigns after getting busted sending a sexist and racially charged email about a congressional candidate.
The Mongomery County Republican Party chairman was called out by the Republican News Watch. The local conservative news site got a hold of the email about the former Miss America and GOP congressional candidate Erika Harold and published it.
On Thursday, Jack Dorgan, the Illinois Republican Party Chairman, accepted Allen’s resignation.
In the email sent Tuesday to Republican News Watch editor Doug Ibendahl, Allen called Harold, who will challenge Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) in next year’s primary, a “street walker.”
“Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in Shitcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires,” Allen wrote. “The little queen touts her abstinence, and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on.. Now, miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS.”
GOP officials, including Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, received heat for Allen’s comments.
“The astonishingly offensive views expressed by Chairman Allen have absolutely no place among the leaders of our party at any level,” Priebus wrote in a Thursday statement. “His behavior is inexcusable and must not be tolerated. He should apologize to Erika Harold and resign immediately.”
