Michelle Obama will appear on FOX this weekend. Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has invited Mrs. Obama as a guest on his television talk show. The topic will be about her new “Let’s Move” campaign.
Obama will talk about kids and her new program to curb childhood obesity. Coincidentally, Huckabee lost more than 100 pounds and wrote about it in the book entitled “Quit Digging Your Grave With a Knife and Fork: A 12-Step Program to End Bad Habits” and “Begin a Healthy Lifestyle.” Huckabee also agrees with the First Lady that childhood obesity is a major threat to our country.
“It is not a left/right, liberal/conservative, Democrat/Republican issue. This is an issue that falls beyond what I call the ‘horizontal’ issues of left and right and rises to the ‘vertical’ level of up or down,” Huckabee said in a statement.
FOX suggested that Huckabee should interview Michelle Obama. Huckabee liked the idea and invited the First Lady to talk about the issue since it isn’t one that should be only partisanship. The FOX talk show host says pushing kids to watch what they eat can be a subtle thing.
Mrs. Obama has made fighting childhood obesity one of her pet causes while she is First Lady. She announced this month the launch of her “Let’s Move Campaign” that is aimed at curbing childhood obesity. Health experts say it’s an issue that is in the best interest of our nation.
Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee and FOX News Host
Mike Huckabee served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas and current talk show host of “Huckabee” on FOX. He was a candidate for President in 2008. He finished second in delegate count as a result of the 2008 United States Republican presidential primaries.
Huckabee is the author of several best selling books. He is also an ordained Southern Baptist minister and musician. He and his wife, Janet, have been married for 33 years and have three grown children: John Mark, David, and Sarah. Janet Huckabee was an unsuccessful candidate for Arkansas Secretary of State in 2002.
Huckabee was born in Hope, Arkansas. If that sounds familiar, it should. It is also the same hometown of former President Bill Clinton.
His father worked as a fireman and mechanic and his mother worked as a clerk at a gas company. Huckabee’s first job, at 14, was working at a radio station where he read the current events and weather. He has one sister, Pat, who is a middle school teacher.
