Obama to appear on Fox News as a last effort to push for health care. The White House has scrapped its anti-Fox News boycott. It is the first interview since the Obama administration announced that Fox wasn’t an actual news channel.
Obama will be interviewed by Bret Baier. Baier is a fair host will probably keep the interview neutral. However, don’t be surprised if he tries to tell the President that most polls are against health care.
However, Democratic strategists and analysts have noted that the President has nothing to lose by foraying into the right-leaning conservative domain. It is clear that the Obama administration is pulling out all the stops in an effort to have health care reform. It will try to sway any conservative votes this week.
This strategy is different. Obama wants to explain why health care reform is so important to viewers of Fox. In the 2008 election, he won the majority of independent voters and a great deal of the conservative voters. Most independents and conservatives want r but they do not want a government control health care system.
The President will also speak at the public health care event at George Mason University in Fairfax on Friday. It’s part of an effort to get Congress to approve Obama’s massive health care legislation. The event is free and open to the public.
Health Care Reform Vote
The health care reform vote could happen before Sunday. Just when it seemed impossible for the health reform debate to get any more complicated, lawmakers have become mired in a procedural fight over exactly what they are going to vote on and when. The next chapter of drama could play itself out over this weekend.
The Democrats want to get this done before President Barack Obama leaves for an Asia trip on Sunday. This is a trip that he’s already postponed in hopes he can help round up more yes votes. Liberal Rep. Dennis Kucinich switched his vote from “no” to “yes” on Wednesday.
Liberal Rep. Dennis Kucinich Will Support President’s Overhaul Bill
Liberal Rep. Dennis Kucinich says he will support President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul bill when the House considers it. The Ohio Democrat opposed the bill when the House voted on it last year. However, he has been lobbied hard by the President, as Democratic leaders try to achieve 216 House votes.
The health care bill will cost $1 trillion. Kucinich announced his decision Wednesday. It’s a very important announcement because the total votes will be close.
Democrats are scrounging for all the support they can get. All Republicans are expected to oppose the legislation. Some Democrats who voted for an earlier version in November believe the new bill lacks sufficient curbs on federal financing of abortions.
Tea Party Organizes CODE RED Rally
The members of the Dallas Tea Party organized a CODE RED rally before the Capitol Hill. Members from the rally shouted, “Kill The Bill” in order to stop the Senate from passing the heath care bill. Republicans have also been reported to have assured the campaigners that they are certain to attain victory in this long fight.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs remains confident that the bill will pass soon. Despite the growing rallies and lack of public support, the Obama administration is still moving forward. Tea Party members allege that the White House did not pay any heed to the requests of those people who vote against a government takeover of health care.
